Matt Phillips is a communications professional with 14 years’ experience in the music, broadcasting, digital media and technology industries, primarily in-house at record labels’ body BPI and the BBC.
PhillipsPR, a consultancy vehicle for Matt, is not currently trading, with Matt taking up a new board-level role of Director, Client Services & Strategy at advertising & media industry communications agency Propeller Group from October 1 2014. Matt has been consulting for the business since April 2014.
Prior to setting up PhillipsPR in early 2012, Matt ran communications for the BBC’s Future Media & Technology division as the corporation evolved from a linear broadcaster into a fully-integrated digital media company – responsible for corporate communications, publicity for products such as BBC iPlayer, and digital partnerships such as project canvas – later connected-TV business YouView.
Before the BBC, Matt was Director of Communications at record industry body the BPI as the business was developing and promoting digital business models – whilst tackling digital music piracy and managing the decline of the CD retail business. During this time Matt became a regular media spokesperson – making more than 100 broadcast media appearances between 2004 and 2008.
